HEFN’s 10^th Anniversary Meeting will be held in Washington D.C. from November 2-4, 2009.

This is a remarkable moment in the philanthropic world. Unprecedented federal policy opportunities are emerging amidst economic turbulence.  HEFN will bring together funders from across the country to discuss critical environmental health and justice issues with Washington, DC as the backdrop. We plan to celebrate ten years of learning and collaboration, while focusing on the future of environmental health and environmental justice philanthropy.

The two-day working meeting (November 2-3) will include strategic discussions focused on:

·         Chemical policy and the new economy;

·         Case studies of investments related to toxics,           environmental justice, California grantmaking and women’s environmental health; and

·         Building capacity to engage policymakers.

Special events on:

·         November 2:  A special HEFN 10^th Anniversary dinner, featuring highlights from the field, toasts to past successes, and reflections on lessons learned.

·         November 4:  An optional day of visits to policymakers on Capitol Hill and/or in the Obama Administration.
