HEFN’s 2011 Annual Meeting
HEFN’s 2011 Annual Meeting, "Message Received," was held in Baltimore, with a focus on the art and science of communications on environmental health and environmental justice (November 2-3). It was followed by a Funder Roundtable on Environmental Justice (November 4).
About the “Message Received” HEFN 2011 Annual Meeting Program (Nov. 2, 9 am to Nov. 3, 5 pm):
This meeting was designed for funders making grants on environmental health and environmental justice issues or related issues. The program explored communications science, lessons from past efforts to make the case for environmental health protection, and cutting-edge ways to reach the public, decision-makers, and the media.
About the Funder Roundtable on Environmental Justice (Nov. 4, 9 am to 3 pm):
This Funder Roundtable on Environmental Justice convened grantmakers sharing interests in the health and equity of our communities. Funders reflected on the evolution and current state of environmental justice grantmaking, and they discussed opportunities for this critical movement, including where it intersects with issues such as energy, toxic chemicals and pollution, jobs and the economy, and community development.
HEFN’s Environmental Health and Environmental Justice Working Group invites funders to participate who are not directly focused on environmental justice but are interested in learning about or connecting with it.
