What’s policy got to do with food and agriculture philanthropy, you may ask? Beyond the Farm Bill and changing food safety regulations, what is there? Policy impacts all aspects of the food system-- research, production, marketing and more; and government at every scale, from local to international, shapes laws, rules, spending priorities. If we want our public policies to reflect our community's values, then we have to work together and engage in this process.

The 2015 Policy Briefing will include sessions on food and health, water quality, research funding, local policy, and beginning farmers, media and messaging, and market forces. You are also invited to a pre-briefing dinner discussion on international trade policy. We'll learn about all of these issue areas, but we'll also talk about who currently benefits from-- and who is excluded from-- our current food system, and how to support policies rooted in inclusion and fairness.
