Working Groups

This is a list of HEFN's working groups, including the Catalysts (focusing on chemicals, environment & health), women's environment & health, environmental health & environmental justice, and HEFN-California.

HEFN offers many opportunities for funders to find your grantmaking niche and be part of a lively learning-and-collaboration community.

HEFN currently supports five working groups,  formed as numerous funders share an interest and want to work together for greater effectiveness.  Please email us with your interests or join our community!

  • HEFN Catalysts for a Healthy Future supports funders interested in chemicals, environment and health. Catalysts seek to promote changes – in policies, markets, technologies, and communities – that eliminate toxic threats to the health of people and ecosystems.

  • Women's Environmental Health Working Group links funders interested in environmental health issues of concern to women and women's leadership in the environmental health movement.
  • Environmental Health & Environmental Justice Working Group links funders concerned about environmental exposures, health disparities, and capacity-building of low-income communities and communities of color.
  • HEFN-California connects grantmakers supporting environmental health and environmental justice in California.
  • Hydrofracking Funders Working Group connects funders concerned about the escalating impacts of hydrofracking on public health, environment and communities.

HEFN also offers a listserv for peer communications among funders concerned about mountaintop removal coal mining.
