The Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation works to create and support internationally recognized and renowned leaders in positive environmental change. The Foundation bases its work and funding on six main values: 1) Belief in Individuals 2) Environmental Stewardship 3) Sustainability and Systems Thinking 4) Interdisciplinary and Innovative Problem-solving 5) Maximizing Impact 6) Accountability and Results

 

MISSION: "The Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation identifies and nurtures environmental leaders who have the ability and determination to make a significant impact, and supports initiatives that will have direct and measurable results to improve environmental quality.  The Foundation accomplishes this by awarding academic fellowships and project grants, sponsoring professional development activities, and fostering a growing network of Switzer Fellows, environmental practioners and organizations."

MAIN ISSUE AREAS:

1)      Fellowship Program: investing in individuals who demonstrate excellent leadership skills in making positive and impacting differences to better the environment.  Fellows are supported in all fields pertaining to environment.

2)      Leadership Program: "to help advance the professional careers of Switzer Foundation alumni and to give non-profit organizations, educational institutions and government agencies greater access to individuals with superior technical and scientific expertise."

3)      Professional Development Fund: "to provide support for professional development for Switzer Fellowship Alumni only"

4)      Collaborative Initiatives Fund: "funding two or more Fellows to implement new joint activities and projects that result in specific products or outcomes focusing on an environmental issue."
