The Kresge Foundation is a $3.9 billion private foundation that works “for the promotion of human progress” by supporting community-based, non-profit organizations that create positive and sustaining change. Initially, the Foundation worked to build non-profit infrastructure and capital projects through strengthening fundraising capabilities. However, in 2007 the Foundation began broadening its “values criteria” and expanding its grantmaking in order to reflect current and ever-evolving issues with globalization, technological advancement, global climate change, economic and health disparities and more in today’s society.
Specifically, the Health Program seeks to improve the health of low income and other vulnerable populations by addressing the natural, built and social environments in which they live.
