Rx for Survival 2011 seeks to create a unique forum that promotes social responsibility and smart policy from the medical perspective.
Primary Goals:
Rx for Survival seeks to encourage participants to look beyond the traditional
realms of their medical or public health professional careers by becoming
change makers in both the medical and policy world. The three-day conference
will feature the following components:
Workshops: Regional discussions will occur in between informative
panels and serve as the forum for participants to formulate an advocacy agenda.
Training: Each panel and workshop will feature an advocacy component and share details on how to move from advocacy to action in their local communities and nationally.
Panel Discussions: Panel discussions featuring world-renowned experts and policy makers. Invited speakers include scientists, physicians, members of congress, and administration officials. See the complete list of invited speakers.
Networking: Chapter leaders, board members, and PSR staff will present or participate in every session of the SPSR conference. Also, a reception celebrating the 50th Anniversary will be held and be a great event for student and board members to mingle.
The conference will feature several plenaries and panels, including but not limited to:
Dying for Growth: Industrialization, Climate Change, and Health Effects
Spoils of War: The Social and Health Costs of a War Economy
Hold Your Breath: Effects of Air Quality on Health
