Kojo Spencer has nearly two decades of development experience specializing in proposal writing, grants and relationship management, and strategic development for national, regional and community-based organizations. They are a dynamic leader who has led grant writing teams in fundraising including for immigrant advocacy and for various civic engagement and social justice initiatives.  Their work experience includes service with CASA de Maryland, USAction/USAction Education Fund, KaBOOM! Inc., WVSA arts connection/School for Arts in Learning, and the Capital Area Food Bank.

Kojo has a Bachelor of Arts in English and African-American Studies from Wesleyan University, a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College and a Master’s Degree in Health and Wellness Coaching from Maryland University of Integrative Health, formerly Tai Sophia. 

What Inspires Me Most About Environmental Health and Justice: 

As a social justice activist and fundraiser, I am inspired by the dedication of activists and philanthropists to making positive change that will impact our families, communities and the planet.

Why I Love My Job: 

I love helping to bring people together to discuss common issues, share learning and create positive change.  I also enjoy finding solutions, strategic planning, and making things work.

When I'm Not at Work You Might Find Me: 

Playing with my pups, helping others help themselves through health coaching, and playing with yarn (crochet).
